Massive road/track trip in X-50

I think most would consider this excessive, but I really feel that my car is for driving so two weeks ago I checked the weather in the mountains and drove my largely stock X50 from Boulder, CO out to Vegas for the SEMA show...Then on to Willow Springs for three straight days of track work, and then back to CO via Hoover Dam, Flagstaff NM, Santa Fe.......

What a trip....All done in a 10 day period....Thanks to my Dad who showed up at Willow with his GT3, and a spare set of Turbo wheels mounted with Pilot Sport Cups....We had a hell of a time racing both cars together on the big track.....Wow!!!!!!!!

High points: Chicks at SEMA, Glenwood Canyon in the Turbo with no traffic, totally incredible road; Losing traction at 120 mph in turn 8 at Willow and seeing God momentarily; Getting passed by a Craftsman Truck, Nascar thingie in turn 8 at Willow....made me look like I was going backwards; Hanging with all the cool dudes from San Diego PCA....

The car performed flawlessly....Added .25 of a quart for entire trip..Tons of WOT throttle......What a beast!

I have the same idea as you. I take my car on road trips all the time. We should all get out and excersize our cars more often.

Good for you! Those cars need to be driven hard, they love it. I can't stand garage queens.

Indeed, a Porsche that is not being driven is a sad car....BTW, I have been running stock sized Bridgestone SO-2's and they are very good....Did quite a bit of track time at Pahrump with them and for a street tire they do an amazing job!!!

I now have over 24,000 miles on my car.....I bought it last year with 7000 miles, so I have put 18,000 miles on it in one year.....I know, that seems like a lot, but what the hell, you can't take it with you! Oil consumption has decreased, and power seems better than ever.

Have photos, but can't figure out how to post....What is the secret?
