Changed some bulbs tonight

Changed out two bulbs tonight. The fog light bulb and that little bulb in the side of the headlight that comes on with the parking lights (I call it the City Light). I got the Philips bulbs shown in the image below.

The first picture shows the new city light and the new fog light bulb on the driver side with the originals on the passenger.

The second picture shows only the city lights on, with the new bulb on the driver side and the original on the passenger side.

In my garage, the new bulbs look a fair amount whiter. I haven't driven it at night yet.

I also replaced the front and rear turn signal bulbs (PY21W) with Philips Silver Vision. They're coated silver so you don't see the yellow shadow when unlit, but blink yellow. I got them at www.powerbulbs.co.uk

They give you a free pair of Philips BlueVision side marker bulbs (W5W) with any order, which look nice with the clear side markers.

And this mod, courtesy of Itzkirb, makes the side markers flash with your turn singals:

I don't get it. Is there something wrong with the OEM bulbs? I can't see much of a difference with the pics above, maybe in person????

The pix don't differentiate well between the low beams and the stock fogs and city lights. Turns yours on at night and stand in front and you'll see the stock fogs are yellow compared to the low beams, and the city lights--although not as pronounced--are also yellow.

I took out the clear side marker bulbs and put the yellow ones back in tonight. Seeing the blue bulb through the clear lens looked a bit like a Japanese import tuner-mobile.

why H6W? I thought you need W5W for the small city bulbs?
