for those with aftermarket front ends and rear bumpers.

i have a freind that is looking to do a techart front end and rear bumper , the guy he took it to , said he will do it but it will have to be blended up the hood and the fenders/rear quarter so it wont look like two different colors.

so ro anyone with the front and rear aftermarket bumpers, did yuou guys have the car blended ? or did you just have the parts painted and isntalled , did they match up and didnt look liek two different colors?

Depends on the paint used. If quality paint is matched it shouldn't be a problem. I never have a problem when I use debehr, ppg on the other hand never matches for me. Also, since bumpers are separated from the panels/fenders by a cutoff line, even if there is a little differance in shade usually it's not noticable. What's the color of your buddies car?

Definitely don't need to blend. I have replaced the front bumper on my car and a few other local turbos and did no blending at all. It's all in the skill of the painter and also some on the color.

See a local customer car below... painted front and rear bumper

As opposed to the simple matter of having bodywork done?

Yellow should be easy. Tell him to go somewhere else, sounds like the painter he's using is either cheap on quality materials or wants to charge the extra $250 per panel to blend.

I think black shows the most flaws but the hardest to match is white (at least that's what I heard)

My guy uses sikkens and ppg (in the past)

if you do end up getting it blended then you should document the reason for having it painted, then if you ever sell it and the prospective owner wants to have a ppi with paint meter etc then you have some evidence that it wasnt painted due to a collision

ive never heard of panels needing to be blended when having a bumper or anything else re-sprayed

Usualy colors with metalic are the hardest to get a precise match which some body shops prefer to blend. In your case yellow is a solid flat color and does not need to be blended.
