Screw-->Roof (Track) Rack-->Winter Tires?
So I am driving from one institution to another for work then all of the sudden I start hearing really bad sounds starting underneath the car. I stop the car, engine sounds fine, drive another mile and the sound becomes really bad (I'm thinking IMS failure )
Wrong, Sheet metal screw in the rear tire:
So I had my buddy drive me home to pick up my new LM-60's on SportCup's from Damon at the TR. I also threw in the Yakima Load Warrior Rack with extension. This looks like it would work well for taking extra tires to the track
I drove home after putting on the rear tires to make daughters B-day party. Picture shows what a winter rear looks like compared to summer front.
Any thoughts on tire repair for that rear???

Any tire shop you bring it to will probrably tell you that the screw is too close to the sidewall to be patched up. Also, it looks like (maybe its the pic) but your tread is getting low. It's prob best to get new tires at this point
Nice rack! Did that tire standing upright move at all when you were driving? I would be afraid of it tipping over on a tight turn

Thanks for the feedback on the tires.
With regards to speed with the tires standing up, I held them down for the ride through the rims with bungees and on top with cargo net. I took a moderately curvy on ramp at 45-50mph and top speed towards home was 60- 70mph. I dropped the sunroof to check for anything unusual and nothing. I posted more for proof of concept that this may be a good track hauler for those looking to transport their wheels. I was in a hurry and could have laid down all four wheels with the tires hanging over the edges of the rack.
Haven't seen a Lotus or Corvette with this setup yet
