No Garage for the TT -> Best way to keep it looking brand new?
No Garage for the TT -> Best way to keep it looking brand new?
Hey guys, I am moving to a new apartment complex that doesn't have a garage. I am pretty bummed out about the fact that my car will exposed to the elements. I live in northern california where it doesn't snow, but it rains quite a bit in the winter. What's the best way to keep the paint looking brand new? I was thinking about a car cover, but I've read in the forums that it may cause more trouble than it'll prevent. If I wash it every week will it help keep and protect my paint from the elements? All the owners who keep their TT outside, what's your secret?
I wouldnt buy my apartment until I found a place that had a garage and dedicated parking space for my car. Hopefully your spaces are wide enough so you don't get any door dings, that would be my biggest concern, and people walking by with groceries, bags ect and brushing up against the car. Keep the paint waxed and smooth!

I'd just find out who owns the adjacent spots (if it is they who will always be using them).
Familiarity will deliver a bit more care. Park as close to your other spot as possible, but
if you park visibly taking up two spaces, that might attract enough vandal-attention from
punks who dislike 'wealth' and 'specialness'.
A synthetic wax with UV protection, and a light down-to-the-tires cover (if you can
wash it and/or keep it clean) would be good, IMHO.

I rememeber hearing about someone using a fine thread count 100% cotton sheet to place between his car and the actual car cover to avoid the unwanted rubbing on the paint from the cover. Just a thought.

Tint all the way around (including front windshield with super light but UV resistant) tint... Wash and wax regularly (and sealant like Zaino). Cover with clean cover when left for long periods but only on a clean car, not on/off daily with dirt and grime and scratching particles!
