Alacantra dash anyone?

My dash is starting to have ripples in the leather so I'm thinking of having it redone in alacantra. 1) Has anyone done this and 2) any idea of the cost? Thanks!

Edwin

Yes, dash removal/install is about 6 hrs book time I believe so gonna cost 700-800 in labor. Dunno what others charge but the recover cost less than that for me. If you can remove the dash yourself it will save alot of money. I was lucky dallassteeringwheel.com was local to me but it still was about 10 days to get it done if downtime is an issue.

Ah yes, I remember this. You had the nightmarish electrical issue right after you bought the car. Turned out to be the A/C control unit you bought, correct?

Your dash turned out great!

No 100% answer on the cause, but RUF is pretty confident a bad ignition knocked out my ac control unit, then the new part zapped the harness when I plugged it in. My car was a late 01 build and had ac parts in it that are 2002+, every porsche system said I needed the 01 part for my vin# but in the end I needed an 02+ ac control like what was in it. It seems obvious now to replace with the part in it...but at the time we didn't know why it failed in the first place (very unusual...the screens go out but the control unit never dies like mine did) and thought it must be because it was a part for 02+ cars.

Ive had 2 done here in CT (years ago).

Price usually depends on how many stitches you are ok with. If you dont mine 2 or 3 main stitches, its very reasonable.

Edwin - since that your in TX.. You may want to give these guys a call http://www.dallassteeringwheel.com/ .
