Question CF Hood suggestions

Hi All, I am considering changing out my stock hood for a CF hood and wondered what kind of insight might be out there.
I want to do some cosmetic finishing (paint) on the front of my 01 TT. I am also thinking of changing the front bumper to a GT2.
There are lots of different options out there for style and quality.
I have seen a Manthey CF hood in person and I really liked the quality and weight savings.
Does anyone have any first hand experience they would be willing to share?
Vendors to look for or stay away from.......
Any help would be appreciated.

I purchased the Porsche Motorsport CF hood and most people can not tell the difference. You pay for what you get when it comes to CF.
Good luck

If you like the quality of the hood, buy it and have it baked before you paint or clear coat it.

I went with these guys since my OEM hood was damaged. It was cheap and the quality is really not bad at all.

Weight savings = how much? Is it really that significant when compared to:

1. The cost involved for the hood, have to have it painted to match the car, etc.
2. Add 1 more HP to the engine.

Same.

OEM is aluminum yes? Perhaps if you were going to leave some of the CF exposed for some style or the stock hood was toast and the CF was cheaper but overall I agree with the post above. Not sure this makes fiscal sense but to each their own!

Sorry if I am a little slow, but why/how do I "bake it".
Does this harden the product, like an autoclave?

I think the stock hood is 37 lbs. The Manthey CF hood I saw was 6 lbs.
Weight savings = 31 lbs.

1. I need to repaint the bumper, hood and fenders due to numerous rock chips.
Cost to strip down the hood is $500.
New CF hood is just painted w/o need of stripping.

If I can save $500 by adding a CF hood and save some weight too, why not?

A very good (I.E. Getty) CF hood is about 7-8 lbs where the stock one is almost 40 lbs so you can actually get over 30 lbs weight savings and yes it costs quite a bit, but looks good too. For about a grand not too bad of an idea.

GettyDesign has good fit and finish, uses original hardware and is very fairly priced.

oh yeah, the hood pins on my car are not needed for a street car.

Oven like the ones in a paint shop. It degasses the CF so it doesn't fog the paint or clear coat later.

Definately bake it first..

You can also remove one hood strut since your ona weight savings kick don't need two struts since u took 30lbs of weight off

not all that worth unless your in need of paint work already
or are getting a hood with asthetics vent or something

This hood sounds really amazing since it is from the factory, but I wonder how much it is, probably atleast 3-4 grand..
