5th MAF is blown...

Yesterday i blew my 5th maf...Strange enough it was blown with a stock airbox, boost controller set at off (0,8bar boost) and normal driving with 4th gear at 4500rpm...So it was not related to power or airbox...Maybe MAFs have a limited lifetime and mine was about to die...who knows...however next week i will switch to proto style intake with ford maf to end this story...

Was it a real OE bosch maf or a generic piece we are starting to see coming out of china?

It was a real Bosch maf...i always buy sealed bosch boxed mafs...Once i tried a chinese maf it had red rubber ring instead of green, very poor quality solderings to diode and no part number on it...Strange enough it was operating and idling normally without throwing any codes but under full load the car was rattling and at fast shifts boost went (and stayed) to zero...However no codes at all...So if you happen to see a car that runs strange without a code beware of chinese mafs/sensors...

The stock MAF is not really any good for much above 600 hp of air flow.

How much power are you running?

I'm no MAF pro, despite my massive collection of burnt OEM MAfs, but I believe the over voltages your air flow is asking for, will slowly dergade its durability. At 575 AWHP, you are way beyond the capacity of the OEM MAF. I created my impressive collection of dead MAFs PRIOR to the Hitachi MAF being available. Isn't the Ford MAF standard on 24/18 applications?

The Mustang MAF is rated for 1200 hp.

The MAF's are a great system and are accurate in their range. They also can be pushed ..... to a point.

We were going to use the Mustang MAF, however because of the 1200 hp rating decided to go in another direction.

I'm sorry to hear about your dead MAF. I must have been lucky. I was running 18gs at your power level and never blew a MAF. I wish I could tell you what I was doing so that you don't blow another MAF but the only thing different about my setup was the tune. I think everything else was the same. I know if I was in your shoes I'd either try the Hitachi or go with a blow through setup and a Ford MAF and be done with it.

maybe it's in the programing...

If you can try to load up your original file.... run .8 bar and you will be fine... see if you blow it...
