Will 997tt rear calipers bolt onto a 996tt

Title says it all. I have an '01 996 TT and both my front and rear calipers are discolored. I have standard 996tt rotors in the rear but 997tt rotors in the front (with the 996tt calipers shimmed)

I want to find a used set of calipers in excellent condition to replace them as I don't think painting them will last very long. I thought the the 997tt REAR brakes were identical to the 996tt and was hoping the rear calipers I found would simple bolt right on.

Before everyone says now's the time to upgrade the brakes, I understand, however I don't see this car as being long of my world and I just want to to bring it's appearance back up to pristine at a reasonable cost.

997TT rear brakes are larger than 996TT...next week i will install them front and rear as well...However there are members that say rear 997TT brakes installed on a 996TT will change brake biasing...i believe it wont...if you have the fronts as well to maintain the upgrade to both front and rear...

Bolt straight on... 997 GT3/TT Caliper along with 997 GT3/TT Rotor.

Initially you will feel better bite on rear but no issues whatsoever.

So, just to clarify, the 997 REAR rotor is larger that the 996? I know the front is but I wasn't aware about the rear.

adam699, you say it's easy to repaint the calipers. Do you know of a DIY somewhere on-line? What prep work do you have to do before painting? Will the repainted caliper stand up to heat like the original? Finally, can you get the Porsche name on there as well? TIA.

you just have to prep the surface like you would for any paint scuff it or take it by a shop n have it sand blasted and then paint it with nice caliper paint. you can get the paint from the auto part store usually

I've got a complete 997TT front AND rear brake setup bolted straight on to my car. I heard about the brake bias issues but have not experienced anything on my car. I'm running Vivid's SS lines and Motul RBF600 with stock pads all around. Once I burn these up I'll probably upgrade rotors and pads to aftermarket versions but these 997TT/GT3 brakes rock in the meantime! The front rotors from the GT3 do not bolt straight on but the TT ones do! Rears are the same if I remember correctly.

I would think that the brake bias is controlled by in car electronics not the calipers themselves, so the change shouldn't effect a 996TT. I could be wrong though and defer to the experts on this.
