Removed Cats.....Nice improvement..

I had my cats removed and had a customized straight pipe installed with a flange for quick removal if needed for smog checks...To my surprise, the check engine light remained off...I had a previous FVD flash so that was a shocker.

The car does act different..Off the line, there is a small lag but once it gets moving i shoot up to .9 immediatly. I am spooling quicker. At idle, its just as quiet as stock, but when you hit it, it sounds pretty good. Im running a speedtech exhaust and cant be happier with the setup. This beta test was well worth it...Garrett turbos are on the way in Jan........

It is a fix it ticket until you fail to pass smog test. Then it's put all the stock stuff back on to get you're new tags.

Way to fix it. Swap the cat in and out when you need to.

California Highway Patro and Patrol Units in the Sheriff's department now carry infrared scanners that can detect law-breaking levels of exhaust. They wont pull you over, but you may get a $500 fix-it ticket in the mail.

I believe SMOG Checks for performance vehicles are now controlled by the Sheriff's Department. Your vehicle is required to pass the three following tests:

1. Visual Inspection of the Exhaust system and engine bay.
2. OBD2 Unit and Sensor Check
3. The Sniffer (A prod placed in the exhaust to measure levels of emissions.)
4. The optional fourth is a decibel check for systems that are "too loud."

Failure to meet any or a combination of the required parameters above can result from a warning, a no-cost fix it ticket, fix-it ticket and fine that can reach $2,500 or impounding.
