Just bought an '01 996tt
Ok, need some advice for planning. We're getting down to the nitty gritty for upgrades. My son and I are making a list of stuff left to do on my car and I'd like your input as to ideas that I may have forgotten. We are adding the Precision Porsche GT2 front bumper and rear wing in the next few weeks (already ordered). Here's what we've come up with some far for "finish outs":
1. 997 SSK
2. Dallas Steering Wheel Alcantara 2 tone rework
3. Alcantara gray seat inserts (I'm hoping just our local Fisher auto trim could do that)
4. K16's/16g upgrade with a new softronic flash. 5bar FPR, AP intercoolers and pipes. Just want it to boost a little. Will probably never track.
6. New clutch/flywheel
6. New handbrake and center console in carbon fiber (Ours is pretty worn out)
7. Some kind of steel floor pedals (recommendations?)
8. P Box
As you can see by my signature, we've already done a lot to the stock chassis in the last 3 months. SO, let the suggestions begin!

We are doing the work here in Houston at Vivid Racing Texas.
my message was intended for #PatrnFlyr, I thought he had found someone in Lubbock, am I mistaken
Houston is a bit too far for me.

Congrats its a great car. Parted with my 2002 manual after 10 wonderful months because I wanted to do more trackwork and fast circuits. I ended up with a '07 GT3 but for a daily driver this is seriously all you will ever need.
I test drove a 97 GT3 a couple of weeks ago and loved it. Just a little too much $$$ for me especially since I'm getting ready to spring for another "smile" car, a Z8 just to bring out on those once a month convertible days we have in Lubbock. Should get the body stuff finished today and then it goes down to Todd's guys in Houston on Sunday for the turbo upgrades... Will post pics later this afternoon.

Congrats on the car. That is a beautiful color and I love the wheels!
I just picked up an '03 that was delivered last Friday. It has been snowing ever since, so I've only been able to drive it for two days. I don't have snow tires for it yet. I'll get those this fall. I am desperately trying to stay away from the mod bug for a bit, and you are not helping!

When I bought the car, we were only planning on a few things like wheels and a flash, now look where we've gone! It's getting ridiculous. Picked up the car for approx $38K and have put about $15-18K into it, but it's worth it to me. When it comes back from Houston and Todd, I'm going to do a carbon fiber interior, alcantara seat inserts and Dallas steering wheel alcantara mod, then THAT'S IT!!! It's kind of fun to go back to the start of this thread and look where I started, plans, etc and see where I am now. You guys were 100% right when you said the modding thing is addicting. Now, I understand all the smiley faces, etc in your initial posts.
The BMW 750Li is running perfectly (1st page). It was just a bolt not tightened up which allowed air to leak before the airfilter. It's probably the nicest car overall that I've ever driven (or will for that matter). I'm envious of my wife every day when I see her leave out for work.
Would I do this again? I doubt it. I stayed clear of Porsches for decades because of our lack of a dealership within 5 hr drive. I didn't realize that an good, knowledgeable independent mechanic can do a better job than the dealer. I'm not so intimidated anymore. Having said that, after driving the 997 GT3, I think I would have gone that route, but I have no regrets. I just like the body looks of the 997 more (just slightly). However, I can honestly say that if Porsche came out with the 997 body first and then the 996, I'd probably like the 996 more. That just shows you how dumb I can be in my purchases.
Finally, I'd like to add that my son and I are having a blast and that is PRICELESS!

If it makes you feel better, my '03 cost about as much as you have into the car now!
