Could anyone please reccomend an open aluminium trailer that does work with a TT pulled in front first. Brand and size would be great. I understand the need to balance and tongue weight, but I need to narrow my search to correct size and brands.

I have Trailex model CT-7541 that fits the turbo well. The axles can be mounted in different locations to accommodate the weight distribution. When I ordered the trailer, they asked which car I had, and then set it up for a 911 weight distribution. It's light too, at about 875 lbs.

Hope that you intend to bring your car out to some local events at Putnam Park.

Jon, thanks for the info. I have been considering the trailex. I think it has the factory tire rack for extra set of tires? Do you winch it on or can you open the door on your car and get out? Yes...I go to Putnam quit a bit with 10/10ths, PCA, SCCA, and any other event I can manage.

You can buy the tire rack as an option. They use extruded Al channels, so you can bolt on all manner of accessories. I drive it on, and the fenders are low enough to open the door and get out. I believe that one can buy winch, but it's not necessary. Mine has surge brakes. Electric brakes are also available, I believe. I've used this setup for 7 years - zero problems.

Maybe we've met sometime? I instruct most of the time for CIR and KY PCA. I live in Crawfordsville. If you want to drive out and have a look at the trailer, let me know.

If I had it to do over again, I'd have bought a trailex enclosed trailer... The fuel mileage alone makes it well worth it...

I pull mine with an Acura MDX. The additional weight of the enclosed trailer would put me over the rated towing capacity of the MDX. It's also a little easier to hide my open trailer behind some bushes.

If it weren't for those limitations, I would prefer an enclosed trailer. The aluminum ones definitely cost more, too, but it sure is a lot more convenient to haul your stuff.

I have the Trailex 8045 which is one size up from the 7541. The extra width is nice as I do not have to be too careful pulling the car onto the trailer and the 11' ramps also are good since I dont need to bring use any other mini ramp or wooden boards to prevent bottoming out. Still pretty light and only about 1.5 feet longer if I remember correctly. Been a great trailer to own and use - highly recommmend.

Trailex's are hard to come by used...typically they get listed and snapped up pretty quickly. I wasn't in any rush and just so happened to stumble on one that was a year old last year and perfect for my needs and it was about 1500 discount to new (that is the other thing, depreciation hit is not big so you are not likely going to get a smoking deal buying used unless it is a distressed sale in which case you got to know about it and jump immediately)
