Dashboard / Seats Leather repair

Anyone had experience with getting their dashboard repaired? I just bought a '01 996TT from a buddy (black with natural brown interior) and the leather near the base of the windshield is crinkled (its from heat damage, but it looks as if it got wet) because my friend always left it uncovered in the Texas sun.

I got a couple quotes for repairing the top and bottom part of the dashboard for $4-5k. Is that in line with other people's experiences?

Also, there are small tears in sport seats. I got quotes ~$2k to repair or I could re-dye them for a lot cheaper, but it wouldn't match my dash very well since its faded from the sun.

Thanks!

I'd look for a new dashboard instead. It will certainly be less expensive than the quotes you're getting. Too bad it isn't black, I have a spare. Same thing for the seats. I'd replace them. They become available regularly since lot's of people upgrade.

Try these guys. I have not dealt with them, but a couple of people here on the 6 have with good results. http://911pcar.com/
I have bought from http://dcauto.gotdns.com/ for some new parts, they also carry used too.

it should not cost that much to fix those seats and dash...my uncle has his seats fixed on this 4runner for a few hundred (with leather)

Those prices are way too high, the dashboard job should be no more than 2 grand including the cost of labor and materials.

What does he do specifically? Anyone know of a cheaper place in Houston by any chance?

Thanks!

Dash and Seats

I know you posted this last year but in case you have not fixed them yet. I purchased a used dash and seats from LA Dismantler in Sun Valley for less than what you were quoted for repairs.

I have a leather dash I want to try to repair before looking to replace it. I am in Sacramento so look to be close to you. Do you still have a good contact to try to fix it?
