Sorry I forgot to say this is a standard TT with the stock K16 units. What are the wastegate settings for this setup with Stage I FVD flash?

Seems like some interesting information regarding the wastegates. Some comments regarding the stock wastegates (i.e., not including external modified gates). First the wastegates are a safety feature of a high boost (turbo charged) system. They consist of a flap and a spring. The spring holds the flap shut unless too much boost is reached whereby they release (waste) boost. Upgraded wastegate kits (internal) are simply a stronger spring to prevent the flap from opening prematurely hence allowing more boost to build. Of course, you are now placing your system at risk so they need to be adjusted for the rest of your system (tune). This needs to be done carefully and equally for both sides. You do not need to do anything with stock K16 turbos as anything over 1 bar is wasted. Upgraded kits are quite helpful if your turbos and tune are upgraded.

Great info. So the stock wastegate setting is for 1 bar. Am I right in thinking that the stock tune is for .7bar? So the flash allows for an increase in .3 bar boost without doing any other changes. Hopefully I've got it straight now. Thanks.

Well I am not exactly sure where the stock wastegate setting starts releasing as a stock ECU with K16 usually only puts out .7 bar....so you aren't really at the safety limits. A flash tune on K16s can get you more than 1.0 bar, but it would not really help the power as K16s run out at about 1.0 bar. The more significant effect is to upgrade the exhaust which will allow for better flow. Remember that it is a complete system, so it will only achieve what the weakest component will allow.

That is a good question. I do not know since the tuner set my tune to 1.0 bar and then I customised it for VP 109 and 1.2 bar.

I may have been able to get 1.2 bar without an adjustment just by raising the PSI setting.
