2006 Z06 Official Pics>>>
SubscribeBTW, Dodge has a 550-600 hp Viper GTS Coupe ready for release once the C6 Z06 has it's 15 minutes in the limelight . They aren't stupid - it's easy to milk much more power out of that 8L V10 as long as emissions allow it.

Hey Corvette guy, how's your Porsche?
Corvettes are lighter than Porsches.
The Porsche is made in Germany while the Corvette is made in America.
See, there are some sentences that make sense in mentioning both Porsche and Corvette - in fact, yours was one, just like this one was!!

lol...forget all the brand name BS. All you skeptics need to take another look at the specs of this motor. This is a monster of a car regardless of price. As sportscar enthusiasts, you gotta give credit where deserved blind of stigma.

In terms of horsepower, there is an upper limit somewhere out there. And we're probably closer to it than we realize.Originally posted by MKW

The next arena is active handling, and Porsche will probably water some eyes with the 997 Turbo in this area.

i love it !
I have never been impressed with the Corvette's level of refinement. The interior is a constant reminder of its relation to the lower priced Chevrolets. The 'Vette is still one hell of a performance bargain, but it's fast approaching the Viper price point . . .
On another topic but in some ways related , far from ever escalating HP wars , I've been thinking of picking up an Elise also for lightweight fun. Sat in one yesterday and it feels like a toy, in a fun Christmassy way with it's tiny but thick and grippy steering wheel that feels like it's 10 inches across. It's so refreshing on their boards - all the mods are about trying to take even more weight ( an additional 100+ pounds ) off the car , in homage to Colin Chapman 's dictum of adding lightness. My first sports car weighed 1700 lbs 30 years ago and it's time to relive light and lively
There are some aftermarket carbon fiber seats that weigh 5 lbs each ! I'm already ahead of most of their owners by being 142 lbs !
Fat guys needn't apply - if you fall into the seat -you WILL need a hoist to get back out over the 12 inches- higher -than -the -seat cushion door sill !

AutoWeek says the new Z06 will do 0-60 in 3.5 seconds, not 3.8 seconds. Sheesh.

To me its ridiculous to compare a corvette to a Porsche. They are not the same imo nor do Porsche owners cross shop corvettes or vice versa. Not taking anything way from either camp, just saying its impossible to compare. Just like corvette owners would say that comparing the STI which has similar times to their wonderful C6 is ridiculous. I think it is ridiculous to even mention Corvette and Porsche in the same sentence.

Actually I am personally cross shopping between a 2006 Z06 or a 2-3 year old Turbo. I know a couple of people on various boards are as well.Originally posted by LSM

That's absolutely correct. However, the Vette continually reminds the driver of its poor fit and finish. I swear even the Vette's steering wheel can be found in the Cavalier. The visceral nature of the Viper overwhelms the senses and prevents any dash stroking withdrawal. Originally posted by 996turbo

In all honesty though, I am just biased. There are a myriad of factors that detract from both the Corvette and the Viper, but I would always give the nod to the Dodge. The Viper is undeniably raw, but I feel it compensates with its masculine appearance and flat-out sex appeal.
