Shift **** Question?

Hi -

I have a short shift kit in my 996TT and it has the standard shift ****. I'd like to change it to one of the stubbier versions like the one in this picture from another member's thread. Will it work, is it easy to swap, and any idea on the price?

Thanks!

Todd

It's is about as easy as it gets. Suncoast has the one in this picture. I just changed mine for a RUF one. You just unsnap the trim piece connected to the leather bag, pull the bag over the shift ****. If there is a small hex screw in front, un-tighten it. If no hex screw pull like hell.....

I have a used carbon fiber one that I am not sure I am selling yet.

Thanks for the link - I like the carbon fiber one, but I don't have any other carbon fiber bits - would it look odd by itself?

Let me know if you want to sell and what your price is - thanks!

Here is what it looks like under the bag. The silver thing is the hex nut (on the Carbon one - some don't have this). You can sometimes find them at LA Dismantlers.

I'll let you know if I'm selling mine, but its kinda beat (has 62,000 miles on it).

If you are gonna drop 400 bucks, the RUF one is really nice.

I have a techart. It is a metal ball kind of unit. I like it.

Rennline just started doing the same exact thing, btw....

Love that....that was high on my list.

Here is a bad camera photo of the RUF one. Its super comfortable. The carbon one gets a little slippery on the track.

SW is very comfortable also.

No pics this minute. I did reuse the stock 996 boot. It bolts onto the B&M short shifter no problem as wll.
