Hose Help...what is this?

Well, I was under the hood replacing my battery this evening, and saw this little guy just hanging out under there...not attached to anything but looking like it should be. I looked and looked, but couldn't see where it should plug into My guess is the hose for the passenger side headlamp washer...? What is it and where does it hook up to???

Yup, vent hose for stock battery. That plastic piece literally plugs into the side of the battery (on the end).

Yeah, now that I think about it, that makes sense....it was a long day at work . It wasn't a stock battery to begin with, so that's why it was just hangin' out. Do I need to vent the new battery (Interstate), or just let it be?

You must attach the vent....if your interstate didn't come with one you should get one for it....usually a kit for free from the store you bought it from.

Unless it's a sealed Gel battery. It will have a nipple of sorts, if it needs to be vented, in which case, VENT IT.

No, it's not a sealed gel battery...it does, however, have a vent port on it--of course the battery dealer neglected to give me the adapter Guess I'll be making a phone call in the morning... Scary thing is, the previous owner had put an Interstate battery in before and never connected the vent hose
