Cold Engine Rev - Good or Bad for Turbo Car?
i turn my car on, immediately pull out of my driveway while the car still is in cold start
(idling very loud at 1200 rpm)
i then proceed to drive down 1 block, engage in a controlled powerslide and red line first and 2nd gear while getting onto the expressway
have been doing this for 2 years now
ive never warmed up any of the cars ive ever owned
its all a myth

closer to 50 actually
bought it with 38k
it has 86k on the clock now
car made 500 rwhp on a humid july day, without any fans on the intercoolers
car see's and holds 1.2 bar without any issue
these cars are made to be driven hard

Hey Steve,
Like your style of making a discrete intersection u-turn. Next time could you try this on Holland,
Midtown, Battery or Lincoln tunnel approaches. Instead of just youtube you might make it on the 6:00 skycam report.

Engines now a days are really well build and in most cases, out last all other components when kept in stock form. Most people including myself do NOT have a lot of experiences with bad engines. However, I do have a lot of experiences with RC nitro engines. When engines are cold, the compression is really tied, reving the engine at low RPM is okay, but at high RPM, you're speeding up on the wear process on the pistons, sleeves and the rods. No immediate damage, but you are losing compression at a much faster rate. There are other rules for sub zero days when you're required to drive and let your engine warm up sooner. Imagine idling under the condition that your engine will not warm up, and your pistons and sleeves remain at extreme cold compression at freezing point. Then, it's better to drive your car immediately to let the engine warm up quicker.
