Why did you go with a 996tt
Mine might be the weirdest.
My first priority was a good snow car. Loved my C6, but the move from Florida to Iowa made it a summer car.
So, AWD, backseat was nice, quick, fast, reliable, convertible (a requirement).
I'll be flamed, but......
I think it is kind of ugly.

It's not a road trip car for four, but it'll get the kids from school just fine.
Just sit in a 996TT and you realize everything fits you like a glove (ok ok except the radio buttons), drive one and you realize this is much more than quick ride, it's rock solid awesome in every respect.
Who doesn't grow up dreaming about driving a 911 Turbo? Seriously?
As others said, it's a terrific blend of high quality engineering, excellent styling, a very nice interior, the ability to upgrade damn near everything on it, and a fantastic marque. Although I strongly considered a GT3, this car was a better relative bargain and more in-line with my previous higher power/torque machines...so I knew it would be a terrific fit.
I test drove the 996TT and a modified C6 Z06 the same day, and it was a very easy decision to buy the 996TT that I currently own.

headlights. I love them. some say that the boxster had them. Not true, the boxster never had the turbo headlights, they had the early 996 headlights. They never upgraded to the turbo headlights, so the 996 turbo and post 2002 996's
just bumbled into mine...
I had been looking for a 996-997 car, scouting Ebay, etc. and reading this forum for quite awhile gathering info in general, when up pops this low mileage 2003 TT trade in at the local dealership.
I never expected to own a Turbo, (just owning a Carrera would have been fantastic) but the price was right and the car is perfect and I can't believe my good fortune after some other bloke took the $100k depreciation hit.
I can afford to, and will, maintain it.
The thrill of driving it never ends- you could kill yourself with the power....
It's a pleasure to look at, and a thrill to own.
Plus, it comes with this online support group and "club" members up and down the highways!
Enjoy these, everyone!

i am still kicking myself for not getting a 993TT.
i saw a silver one at a shopping center and it looked incredible!
it's a timeless design that will never be matched by the 996tt!

But why did you get your 996 Turbo?

And yes 993s are very cool, no doubt.

i got the 996TT because i didn't want the pain of having to deal with the higher maintenance and repair costs of an older car.
however after being on here, 6speed, i really enjoy working on my car now. i am much more knowledgeable and wouldn't mind tinkering with a true classic like the 993TT.
to me it's the coolest Turbo ever produced...
Not to make this to long,
When I was in the 2nd grade my older sister ( 5 years older ) had a friend named Porsche. ( I am not sure how it was spelled but it sounded the same ). I had the biggest crush on her a 2nd grader could have. Not long after her I saw my 1st 911. When I found out the girl I was in love w/ had the same name as a sports car… well it was a love that never left.
I can’t tell you what happen to the girl. I can tell you my love for the Porsche 911 only grew. From the 1987 Red, Whale Tail, Turbo poster that stretched 5+ feet across my wall as a teenager to the cartoon movie “ Cars “ my love only got stronger. When my wife decided to let me have 1 I wanted a 964 model. The car of my youth. I really didn’t think I could afford a 996, especially a 996T. I really don’t like the 993s over all look.
The more I read and the more I talked to owners about the 911 the more I grew to know I wanted the 996 over the 964. At first I didn’t like the head lights; they were/are not the traditional lights I grew up w/. They have since grown on me. The suspension, power, reliability, and modern creature comforts like memory seats, real air conditioning, wide sexy *** end, it’s sexy lines and stance, among other things lead me away from the 964 to the 996. I still am not that fond of the 993 over all look. When I found a 996 Turbo ( that I later found out was an X50 ) that was just a little more then I wanted to spend on a regular 996 and a guy really wanting to work w/ me to get it; I made the decision to jump. That short story is in the “ how much did you pay for your 996 T “ thread.
