Leaded fuel???

Anyone mix in some to raise the octain? Since I do not have cats my only concern is how much before I have to worry about the O2 sensors?

I wouldn't. Mix a gallon or two of Toulene instead. It's a natural agent in gasoline used to raise octaine. Just don't spill any on your paint....it eats up the clear coat in short order.

You'll fry your o2 sensor even with a little leaded fuel. 20% Toulene is the way to go if higher octane fuel is not available. Is your engine stock? If so, you won't get a noticable difference gong to a higher octane than is recommended.

I am not stock! I have the GIAC K24 race gas program on my 993tt. I wanted to try to add some spice to the 100 oct fuel I run to see if there is any change.

I have run tolulene and love it. Spilled a little on my wheel and its not pretty. Glad it was not the side of the car. I am looking for other options.

I only add Toulene after I have mixed it with gas in a 5 gallon can. Haven't splilled any yet, but If I do, I hope the delution will give me more time to clean up before damage is done.

VP Racing fuels, Sunoco race fuels, Elf race fuels all have high octane unleaded products.

VP 109, Elf turbomax or Sunoco GT Plus seem to be the go.

why not run 118 octane leaded race gas and change the o2 sensors when they go bad?

For the LSU-4
Sensors Used with leaded fuel
Depending on the lead contents of the used fuel the expected service life
time is: (preliminary data)
- for 0.6 g Pb/l: 20 000 km
- for 0.4 g Pb/l: 30 000 km
- for 0.15 g Pb/l: 60 000 km
In general, when using leaded fuel the sensor will be replaced, when
functional problems occur, e.g. unstable idle speed, driveability problems.
The system diagnose functions should be rechecked for the reduced demands
on the sensor and the increased response times when leaded fuel is used.

02 sensors are $80 each for my cobra and I am sure they are 3-4 x's the price of that for a porsche, so that is not too good of an idea. Also, you will need to replace your spark plugs real soon after running leaded too. It adds up and dosn't make much sence.

VP - C18 (116 octane) = 1.1gm Pb/l

So Mix VP - C18 50-50 with 93 octane and your O2 sensors may last 12K-15K miles!

Thats 8 cents/mile(less than the cost of gas) if you pay $250 for each O2 sensor

I presume this is only worth it if you are running extreme boost and HP. It may be necessary to run 2 bar at 1000 rwhp to catch those pesky supra's
