TechArt 530HP vs EvoMs Stage4 X-50 package?
TechArt 530HP vs EvoMs Stage4 X-50 package?
Ive been lurking about for some time and was wondering if anybody had some input on these two packages.
1. Which will provide bigger gains?
2. Which would be more reliable or streetable?
3. Will either be smoggable?
TechArt - 996 Turbo and GT2 - Engine Performance
Turbo Power Kit T2 for 996 Turbo 530hp/540 ft-lb (Base 420 hp). Motronic reprogramming, high-flow air filter, K16 mod. Turbochargers, carbon air box cover, ABS brake cooling air deflectors and transmission cooling ducts, must have manual transmission
or
EvoMs Stage4 X-50
The Stage 4 system expands upon the Stage 3 system by adding K24 Headers. The K24 turbos will help to reduce EGT's (exhaust gas temperatures) and will aid in allowing the turbos to spool up quicker.
Includes:
-V-Flow Air Induction System
-EVOMSit Intelligent Tuning
-Billet Diverter Valves
-Stainless Sport Exhaust
-Bosch Spark Plugs
-EVOMS K24 Headers
thanks

If your in the States go with a tuner that actually can pick up the phone and or even custom tune...

You seem like you are shopping specs and packages... as Markski said, you should shop for a TUNER. Find the 'brains' behind a 'mod plan' and then 'package' will be defined by your needs and budget.
If you are in SF, Sharkwerks is local... Kevin at UMW is up in the northwest (no sales tax). There are others...so your homework.

PS There are NO CARB CERTIFIED ENGINE MODS for California. Many will 'pass' but only because the shops don't know any better. Don't change any engine hoses, don't change the air intakes. I choose a Europipe exhaust as it looks pretty stock...

Install done by an Evoms dealer, along with total suspension mods. Those who say "find a tuner/installer" are correct. Many horror stories when installer of these various pkgs/components doesn't have extensive expertise.
My car has been "bullet proof" since mods completed, including many track days; being driven on track @ 10/10ths by professional drivers, etc.
I consider this a tribute to the Evoms pkg; but also the skill of installing shop (who also built my Dinan S/C'd S3 E39 M5; which has also been "bullet proof" for 3+ years and 34k miles).
IMO, regardless of pkg "name", who did installation is critical to consistent performance. Find out who did installation on each car you're looking at, then call pkg mfr to get their opinion of that shop.
BTW, I live in Calif. and have had no problems with smog compliance; w/o changing anything before testing. IMO, 'vast majority of smog stations have no idea what they're looking at; 'car easily passes "sniff" tests.
Good luck........
