Help!
Hey Guys,
I'm pretty pissed at myself right now, was just changing out the front diff oil with M1 delvac. Everything went really smooth, new oil in. I notice a drop of oil by the drain plug and figured i hadn't tightened it enough. My Torque wrench was too long and didn't fit so I figured I'd do it by hand with a small wrench, gave it an extra quarter turn and the nut just goes loose... Drained out the oil again hoping like hell the bolt failed, the bolt is perfectly fine, it stripped the thread on the diff...
What are my options? What is the best way to fabricate something? or is it possible to re-thread the diff side somehow? Gah such a simple stupid mistake, i'm really pissed at myself, worst part is I can't drive it to a shop how it is now.
Help!

Just did some searching around and I'm thinking JB Weld should work for this, it's obviously not anything load bearing, so as long as I use a little soap on the bolt(so it'll come out again..) it should be perfectly fine once it's dry.
Anyone ever tried this?

Temporary to drive to shop: did you try teflon tape? Easy and it might work depend on how bad the thread is.
Permanent: rethread and matched bigger bolt
GL. I feel yourpain. I've been there many times.

Teflon tape? think that would be more solid than JB weld? There isn't much thread left on the diff...
Time sert/Helicoil would be the best permanent solutions, but they can always be done after the JB weld. I'll give it a shot and if I can torque it up to the factory 28NM it should be fine. I'll keep an eye on it for leaks, I doubt the plug would just fall out. Anyone have experience with this stuff?

JB weld should hold, but it shouldn't be a permanent fix
a time sert would be best can get individual kits at alot of places on your side of the state

You can drill out the JB Weld as easily as you can metal, well according to the packet you can... It looks like it's holding, but I ain't driving around like that
My shop doesn't have time till the 1st
anyone know of a retailer that sells an M18x1.5 helicoil kit around bellevue/seattle area? Tried everyone I can think of and none have it in anything bigger than M12.

SOOooo, the local porsche dealer had time, they just had a look at it and apparently they say that the helicoil wouldn't work as it would bore out a hole bigger than the washer on the drain plug. That sounds like a load of BS to me, helicoils don't add that much width. The Timesert needs an even larger hole and there apparently isn't enough metal there to do it.
Bigger problem problem is the transmission leak i had, apparently the shift linkage is loose where it meets the tranmission, it's leaking and needs a new seal/bushing. Apparently you can't get those parts and need to replace the whole transmission... another WTF? That sounds ridiculous to me.
