did you ask the receptionist in front of the entire staff how she knew so much about Vivid Productions

Great thread. I think car color has something to do with it all - I used to have a yellow Saab Viggen and it caught far more attention than my Atlas Gray X50.

For my fellow CCW'res, I carry almost every-time I'm out (used to compete in USPSA-IPSC/IDPA regularly), but I've found that a cell phone and good pepper spray to be far more practical for most harassing idiots. I would hate to have to face someone who is actually threatening me with a tire iron or the like.

FYI and IIRC - some state like WA don't allow CPL holders to carry the weapon in the car off your person. Make sure you know your local state laws.

Great info. Very important to know the laws of your specific state.

I'm thinking the EVO guys state of mind is best surmised by quoting Dirty Harry. "He's a legend, in his own mind."

One more incident to add to the list. I was in my M6 on a country road. A lady (loosely said) in her Denali was going about 40 in a 60mph limit area. Open road so I blow past her. I never went above 70mph. About a mile and a half later, she's on my tail and follows me into our housing addition. I just take a tour around the homes so I won't let her find out where I live, all the time, she's hooked onto my bumper. Finally, I can't take it any more, so I stop, get out of the car and go up to her asking what her problem was. She starts screaming at me saying, "You were just hauling a--" . I said, "yes, that's what you do when you pass somebody" She said I wasn't passing anybody, just hauling a--. She starts to move up on my car like she's going to ram it. I ask her if she's going to ram my car and that my lawyer wants some $$ so just keep it up. We both cooled down, I got into my car and let her go by. I act like I'm turning another direction but when she passes, I follow her to her house. The dummie actually pulls into her garage and shuts the door. She lives about a block from me and she'll never know it.

If my wife pulled an M6 that passed her off the road without knowing who was in it, I'd jump all over her. It could've been a Colombian drug lord for all she knew. Just dumb, plain dumb. I think the lady realized she was in over her head when I stopped the car and got out. It was actually funny and we laugh about it now, but she could've done this with the wrong person and got hurt. Hope she learned her lesson.

You are right....This is a lesson that everyone should learn before risking to get hurt..

Too bad you are in Texas. TicketPrep.com does a pretty good job at fighting your speeding ticket for a reasonable fee but only for California traffic tickets.

The road squeezed down to one lane or else he'd try to pass me at that speed. In a PICKUP!! I slowed back down to the limit when the lanes opened back up to two and let him go by. He had a wife and 2 kids in car seats as he went by. Can't believe anybody would do that in that type of car and his family. If I did that with my wife in the car, I'd be speaking in high voices from there on out!

Is it jealousy or anger because they're living in a family car and I'm able to get a sports car? I don't know but its getting ridiculous. I can't go out anywhere without somebody calling me out. Usually, I just ignore them.

Quite simply...."With great power; comes great responsibility".
Remember....they are the a$$hole not you. You cannot be held responsible for someone's else's reaction to your car, only for your efforts to avoid them.

I get a fair share of harrassment but never anything that turned dangerous.

May have something to do with the vanity plates that adorn a few of my cars though

BYBYV8
FAS4DR
and
1320N8 (although I've only met one random person over the years that actually understood what that one means)

The car with the GAM3OVR tag only gets attention from Gran Turismo on the brain teenagers.

I have never been harassed, and I do get some thumbs-ups, and
only once I got a 'challenge' in 2000 which I am sure was just a
guy in awe, with an older hotted-up muscle car who just wanted
to see how much this newly released never seen before turbo would
trounce him. He seemed excited to see me run away from him.

Funny story, the car never actually ran an 8. It was a 2002 Mustang running a Turbonetics TT set up that Jeremy Lee built for me in Orlando. Full street trim with no tubs, all glass, power everything, etc.

I ordered the tag as "inspiration" for me to get into the 8's but the best I ever mustered was a 9.33 @ 157 and a 9.51 @ 160. I had the MPH to get there but never could get the setup right. That and I got tired of driving 150 miles round trip to get it to the track.

I sold it in 2005 and actually stuck the tag on my tow vehicle (2002 Dodge Ram) for laughs.

still a fast car. the mph is excellent and you should have been in the 8's with that speed.

I believe you can carry in a car off your person in WA...

FYI and IIRC - some state like WA don't allow CPL holders to carry the weapon in the car off your person. Make sure you know your local state laws.
I need to verify whether it is possible in WA (which is your point - that one should know the laws in their state) since I also live in Redmond like yourself.

I was pulled over for going 72 on southbound Interstate 5 by Lynnwood. The WA State Trooper came up on the passenger side since I was pulled over on the right side of the freeway. My Steyr S-40 was in my "man purse" on the passenger seat and he noticed it, but because I have a CPL he just asked me to put the man purse on the back seat while we conducted our business (which I did). So from that I take it that it's legal in Washington State to have a firearm in your vehicle while not concealed on your person.

But I'll check on that to verify...
