Big intake plenum and or y pipe intake?
I have an 03 X50. Right now it's 100% stock. I'm looking into a few bolt on pieces. Right now I'm thinking going with an 18g, catless exhaust, and tuning. While I'm in there I'm thinking of going with an intake plenum too. Do I need a 3" Y-Pipe intake as well as a high flow airbox? Do they complement each other or would that be too much flow and hurt the bottom end power?
Our 18g set up at 1.1 bar made 543rwhp(uncorrected) on pump gas with our X 3" 100 cell exhaust. The only other thing done to it was Dvs and BMC filter.
As you increase the airflow passages you will end up needing proper fueling...
I would do some intercoolers, exhaust, dvs, filter, 2 bar FPR and call it a day... Ics not required but If I was going to choose between plenums vs intercoolers I would do ICs... they run 20 to 30 degrees lower temps over stock...
Ive been there a bunch of times over the years with my own car...
