Alignment Recommendations for the Texas Mile

Can someone give me a recommended alignment and ride height for the Texas Mile? I am on KW V3. Right now we are at -2.1 degrees in the rear and -1.3 degrees in the front for camber. Toe is about 0.15 in the rear. Also the ride height is about 25 6/8 inches from the ground to top of fender arch in the front and 26 inches in the rear.

Thanks!

I felt very stable at speed. Its the cross wind that throws a wrench into things..

I'd do away with as much of the toe as possible (Maybe keep a 16th at the front and rear wheels total each end) and run minimal negative camber. The added "flat" footprint will give back the stability the lack of toe will remove.

Toe in or out really provides a lot of friction in straightline speed, so if you think you can live with zero toe, I'd run NONE at all.

Has anyone or does anyone know if it is safe/stable to run a GT2 at 200mph with the wing removed??

Eric, EVOMS spun their black GT2 while running without the wing. I'm not sure if that was why they spun out.

That may have been a suspension problem. But Todd Z or other EVOMS folks could say for sure.
Eric, if you want to run without a wing I would recommend a few shakedown passes at lower speeds to see how the car reacts before you go ***** to the wall.

I was under the impression that the GT2's front lip and rear wing are supposed to work together to produce relatively equal downforce on both ends.

If you remove the rear wing, it seems to me that the front of the car would be forced down, and the rear would become much lighter than it's designed to at speed. Not sure I'd want to risk that at 200+ mph.

I always wondered that myself...I did hear that the wings have broke and or blew off at speeds over 200 mph. Do you know anything about this Scott?

Bryant,

Unfortunately, I don't. Eric asked me about it the other day and that was the first I'd ever heard of it.

Sloss asked me and I asked you about wings flying off. Had not heard personally. I would think Porsche spent a lot of time and money to make sure that car is stable at 200 and leaving the wing on makes the most sense. I may lose a little speed at the big end but I'll still be going straight.

Dez & I are expecting to be in the windtunnel in Mooresville, NC in the not so distant future. I may pony up a few bucks and get mine in there while we're there.

I plan to write an article and possibly have it in Excellence, but if not, I'll publish it online and post the results that are worth sharing.

Mike
