I'm trying to put a realisitic value on this '04 GT2......low miles, one owner, no stories or major mod's. Anybody know of recent transactions?
Thanks in advance.

I would say that a car like that should be worth around $100k

From a low of $85K to about $100K.... Depends on if you're a buyer or seller. The '04 is a VERY rare car, the '05 even more so.

In Orange County, Ca you could get $100K all day long. I had a gut at C&C last week offer me $90K for my 05 Turbo S Cab (Yellow) with 9001 miles.

Since I bought my 2003 last year in October (which seems to have been the low watermark for pricing on these amazing Cars), the values on the 996 GT2's seem to have gone up... A perfect 5000 mile Silver with black interior 2004 GT2, sold here in the San Francisco Bay area for $79k in late 2009.. Today, I am seeing these Cars at higher prices than when I was looking.

Sounds like good news for us owners....

Agree GT2 is the porsche bargain of the decade and put my money where my mouth is! Just bought one last week. it's a bit more miles (50k), a bit more tired, has lots of mods and has seen the track a bit, but still a very nice car. I wanted a track car, so it's perfect for me. paid in the $60s.

I've looked at a lot of these and the trades seem to be happening at the $70k to $85k level except for the low mileage garage queens (90 plus) or the cars with a bit more bedroom experience like mine (sub 70k).

In any case, pricing is all over the board. You've got the combination of extreme rarity and exclusive porsche model (GT2) with the 996 body style that nobody seems to care much about.

The car is FANTASTIC by the way. It's got 90% of the feel of a GT3 with 200 more HP (my car anyway).

See.. I happen to find the rest of the 996 line entirely unappealing, but the 996 GT2 is to my eyes one of the best looking Porsches EVER... It's one of the many reasons I bought the Car.

Kelly Blue Book Retail pricing shows $110,000.00 for an excellent 2004. So I would assume private party sale could command $100,000.00.

From my purely unbiased opinion I have to agree it is the best looking 996.

Have you done anything with the suspension, in terms of the geometry? Getting the camber and ride height correct, together with a corner balance will be a revelation if you haven't done it yet.

80shilling, I am in the process of upgrading my suspension. Just purchased a set of Moton club sports and was considering the toe links. The car already has adjustable sways so not sure if I need to do anything there.

I see in your signature all the suspension goodies you have. Is the car still OK to drive on the street or does it ride like too many Viagra went down the tank.

Also can you recommend the proper ride height, toe , camber, and caster settings to get the geometry right.

The ride is WAAAAAAAY better than the stock suspension, because I have the Triple adjustables.. In fact, I got them BECAUSE the stock suspension was so bad on really rough backroads (where I do a lot of my Weekend drives). The high speed compression damping circuits are adjustable on my JRZ's and so I can back the high speed compression way down for street driving and make the ride downright cushy, or I can crank the settings towards the harder end of the scale for Trackdays..

It depends on what your handling requirements are.. I'm a dedicated track day junkie and an instructor for a few local Race/Trackday/HPDE organizations and I prize handling above almost everything else in a Car. I like to be able to go out and rip up a few twisties at the Weekends and have the Car be neutral and chuckable, so I can have fun.

Here are the settings I have on my GT2 as a best compromise for street and track:

Front swaybar set at full soft.
Rear swaybar set at second setting from full hard.
Front camber is -2.5 (if your Car is a daily driver, it might give you wear issues).
Rear camber is -2.0 (see above)
Front toe is set to 0 (no toe in or toe out).. for my driving style at the track, this works well to get the Car to turn in better than toe-in. I am going to try a slight amount of toe-out next track day and see how that feels.
Rear toe is set to - 1/8th " or 3mm

Ride height is set to Euro GT2 specs (25 1/8" Front and 25 1/4" rear).. once that is done, then corner balance with your weight in the drivers seat. (corner balance will change the ride height by tiny amounts, but it works best that way).

See how that works for you. If you don't track the Car, you could go -2.0 in front and -1.8 in rear and that will still give you better balance, but reduce tire wear. (you might need shims that are readily available to get above -2.0 degrees, but the GT2 comes with a TON of adjustability built in).

For a dedicated track Car, there are people running as high as -3.0, -3.5 or even -4.0 camber up front and up to -3.0 in rear.
