Can't turn PSM off

Since I bought my car a month or so ago I've pretty much ignored the PSM button on the dash as I've just been enjoying it as is. The other day decided to see what the difference would be like without PSM and pushed the disable button on the dash. The indicator light on the switch did not come on. The PSM system seems to be functioning as if I corner real hard I'll get a little flash on the warning light.

Any ideas why its acting like this? Could it just be a faulty switch or might I have bigger problems? It really bugs me when things don't work like they should.

First should have the light "on" when you turn the key just before the starter engage. Do you have access to Durametric or better Piwis? May be you got a fault code.

And look at this http://www.planet-9.com/cayman-boxst...witch-off.html

Thanks for the link. Sounds like exactly what I am seeing. Seems this was the other gentleman's resolution:

"They replaced the switch, and that temporarily solved the problem, according to the service advisor. But when I tried it, PSM still wouldn't turn off. In the end, it was a bad wire connection between the PSM switch and the control unit."

I do not have diagnostic tools nor is tracking down bad wiring within my capabilities so looks like a trip to a professional.

You should take the switch out and see if there is no wire unplugged.... Really easy to pull out....

Yeah, I thought about that after the last post. To unclip the switch panel do you need to pull the intermittent wiper **** off or will the whole panel just yank out as is? Also, are the switches mechanically the same with just a different symbol? In other words, can I use the spoiler switch to test if the PSM switch was bad?

If the switch got only two wires that means it is only an on off switch.... And about the wiper I had the complete panel off and I was able to play with the other switches. The whole panel "horse shoe shape" is only held with clips and with a small plastic spatula you can remove the panel.

Steve, I got the wiring diagram and there is 5 wires going to that switch....There is one more thing you can do while the panel off. If you look at the wiring diagram you will see the "on" "off" wires are , one is black and one is white and pink. If you jump these two wires , while the engine is running, and if the light come on that means the switch is not working properly. As a jumper you can use any small electric wire but be careful to touch only those two wires.
