k24 or k16

notice that some tuners go with k24 while others with k16 couple with giac programme.I am looking at the 600+hp range n hopefully without any noticeable turbo lag or cel.those that hv been there n done it,would appreciate your comments on the bigger k24 vs k16 performance.thanks!

The K16 won't make much power above 1.2bar and even then, you are pushing the turbo's limits. Basically, the K16 is blowing hot air above 1.2bar give or take and overspinning the impellers. The k24 allows for more boost, cfm, and it's efficiency range is higher.

thanks ruiner for the input. To be more specfic,i am refering to imagine auto 600hp kit (k16)Vs awe 600hp kit(k24) both running giac programme. With these different approach adopted by these tuners what will be the differences in performance charateristics?

Do the Garrett Modified K16's. They will take you up to the 700HP kit. No lag - lots of jam.

Mike

Ahh, modified K16s are a different story.

Typically, you will get less lag with the K16 vs the K24.

Yeps mike is on the right tack there... I like the GT700 turbos (also the same in the 640) because of the fact they use K16 hot sides to quicken spool up time. Best of both worlds.

No, the other tuners don't have the MAF thershold issue fixed well enough not to throw a code or go above 1.3. These turbos are moving a lot of air and make a k24 look small in the CFM world. Programming is an issue. If you want FVDs program then use their package. It is win/win. If you want the GT turbos, do the package as you know the software was written for these turbos.
