Upped boost without tune?

I was looking at an 02 for sale and they salesperson said they fiddled with the actuator to up the boost. What is he talking about....the wastgate?

From my understanding that would do nothing for the HP levels without a tune.

Or, would the car see more boost and up the fuel?

He might tweak to just little more boost. If adjust much, you will get check engine light and limb mode( lose power).
It is not the way to do it. You should get proper tune from reliable tuners. More power, more boost and thorttle response.
Do not play around with the guy who does not know what he is doing. Our engine is $20K range. It would be hard to swallow when sh...t happens.

See above, and stay clear of this car and the dealership!

If boost is upped without re-mapping fuel/timing, while ECU will try to compensate for added air some, there is a good chance the car was run lean and detonatting. God only knows how much boost they tried to run through it until it started to cut out.

I can totally see the clowns commenting, "this thing is ***** fast, didn't even pay anything and we prolly got like, a 100hp".... uhhhuuhhh

Here is the car in question.

The car is in very rough condition for sure. Paint is BAD. All the headlight lenses are white and yellow and the rears have cracks in them.

What do you think a good price would be for an 01 Tip with 50k miles? Ballpark?

What sucks is most dealers have NO records on these cars. I guess you could call the Porsche dealer but most people don't take them to the dealers after the warranty expires....

I wonder if a tip or 6 speed is more desirable in these cars....
