MKELLY banned?
MKELLY banned?
Haven't been on any of the boards as of late, just noticed on another board that he claims he was banned. What happened? His status appears normal and does not show "banned".
Do you mean mikelly?
I noticed this thread a while ago. Not sure what it means. WTF

Mike had asked several times to be banned, which I didn't want to do...I held out hope that he would cool down and come back as a participating member...when an admin saw that he kept coming back just to make derogatory posts about IB he was granted his request
Internet Brands...they own this and many other forums...funny thing is Mike is posting on Rennlist, which is also owned by IB...he just didn't like it here

One thing that the other board's members have said that really set me on edge was they're calling 6 speed members a bunch of young "tuners" who are only concerned with drag racing. I guess I should take that as a compliment as I'm 52!
However, the reason I'm on this board is to find out the latest things available to the 996tt. I think this forum has the latest "how-to's" and "don't do this or you'll regret it" threads around. I wanted to take my car up to the newest capability without overdoing it also, but I'm not a dragster. Heck, if the car can benefit from new technology, why not do it?

renn is generally a slightly older crowd more concerned with technical aspects whereas 6speed is generally a slightly younger crowd where a lot more people race etc
both are great sites, both are fairly different and unique in their own way, a lot of people belong to both

No offense but Rennlist is definately for the purist and this site is mostly about drag racing, etc. It is what it is
But one is left to wonder why the Administrator that banned Mike felt it necessary to hide or obscure his true status.... why doesn't it show up as "banned" just like all the other banned members? Someone actually had to go in and override that when they banned him.
And Mike never asked publicly to be banned, so Chuck may be being a bit disingenuous- sure he had a few temper tantrums and said "I'm done with this place" and "I've had it". But never "please ban me". Mikes biggest issues were with Chucks, shall we say, 'enthusiasm' for protecting sponsors and rules- even making new rules as he saw fit. (for example deciding that individuals cannot post about products from non-sponsors even if the individual and the non-sponsor aren't 'in business together'..this has now been deemed to be 'commercial posting'). Now the community cannot communicate with Mike about brakes, suspension, etc.
But that is the entire point, isn't it? Perhaps Mike would say "don't buy from that sponsor" or "come over to Rennxxxxx and we can discuss it there".
BTW, I don't want to be banned- I just want a transparent community where sponsors and commercial interests don't control the discourse.

as usual Ard you don't have it right...I don't know why Mike isn't shown as banned...if I had banned him it would show up that way...Out of respect for Mike I'm not going to post his private messages to me asking for a ban just to assuage your perverse interpretation of what happened...If anyone is being disingenuous here it is you...you can ask Mike if he asked to be banned and I am sure he would tell you the truth...also...there has never been nor have I invented any policy about posting product information regarding non sponsors as long as it doesn't look like a promotion (have active links to points of sale, pricing info etc)...you sound like you would like for non sponsors to be able to sell in the open here...that would be fine except our paying sponsors would leave and we would have no one paying for the forum to be here...please get your facts straight before you make such accusations in open forum...if you would like to discuss it with me send me a pm

This board also has the fastest Porsches in the world on it, most of which were built by american tuners. This fact truly upsets a lot of the guys on other forums.
