Supercharged Carrera VS Stock Turbo
Supercharged Carrera VS Stock Turbo
So I have been looking at getting a p car and can't seem to make up my mind. Should i get a carrera and supercharge it with the money I would save instead of buying a turbo? Or should I just buy a Turbo and not have any money left over to mod it?

If you buy a 996 for 25k and dump 15k into a full supercharger / turbo kit you will not have NEARLY as much car as a 996tt stock at 40k.
Just because both would be forced induction, doesn't make them comparable. Porsche spends millions and millions in R/D to make the turbo, not just add parts to lower models.
Think about the wide body, dry sump engine, much more power, downforce, bigger brakes, better sound, better front end, better cooling system, ect.

I had a SC 993. It blew a bearing after 10,000 miles. When it was fixed it never had the same power as before. Then I bought my turbo. Night and day difference in power and smoothness. Save yourself the grief and buy the real deal. Even without mods the turbo is a far superior machine.
The GT1 engine is a work of racing art, tough as nails. The m96 wet sump engine was designed to cut costs, it is a POS. CK out any number of threads on the 996 board about RMS failures, Intermediate shaft fails...not an engine that does well with forced induction.
