Clutch creaks when depressed (GT2 Conversion)

I was hoping I could get some feedback on this creaking noise I get when
the pedal is fully depressed.
It seems to come from within the transmission and if I leave it alone for
a day or two, it goes away but it does return as the car is driven.

The car has EVO Clutch conversion kit, never had a problem. BTW clutch
seems to engage fine.

Any help, feedback or ideas are most appreciated.

i think i remember mine creaking a bit as well. not sure if its normal or whether it had to do with pentosin residual in the system which eventually led to slave master failure (under pedal).

Get the car back tommorow after 3-4 months down.

Madness,
It has had the GT2 conversion kit for over 2 years, this thing just started to happen.

So I am not sure if your theory holds.

I don't have a GT2 conversion- but my master cyl was replaced under warranty because of a creaking noise... Worked fine though...

Remove the little spring in the pedal linkage under the dash.

Creaking comes from under the car by the transmission casing, not in the car. I had the car on the jacks and went under it to hear it.

Gotcha. Sounds like the car goes back on the lift with a can of WD40?

When I went from stock clutch to EVO Stage 3 and GT2 conversion, I had lots of creaking - and a very stiff pedal. Since going on to a different clutch, the creaking has disappeared.

I've heard the GT cars creak a little - and I suspect it might increase depending on the clutch setup.

Although I do not dispute your findings, mine never did this.
Even worse is it comes and goes, depending if I leave the car
alone for couple days, then it is all good and smooth.
Drive it and it comes back slowly to real loud.

I just love the answers on 6speed. There are a couple of possible culprits. The most obvious being the release fork bushings, which are in the small red circles. They can sometimes wear, sometimes dry out (living somewhere dry like CA contributes), or sometimes get caked with clutch dust, or all three. The next possibility could be the release bearing squeaking against the transmission input shaft (Parts in big red circle). The noise you are describing sounds different then this however. The next possibility could be either the seals within the slave cylinder, or the tip of the slave cylinder shaft against the release fork. (circled in blue)

Your best bet in terms if saving money on labor is to replace the slave cylinder first. Part cost about $466.22 and calls for 5.1 hours to Remove and replace minus bleeding. If the noise goes away it was probably the seals. If not move on to the bushings.

It is however most likely going to be those bushings causing the creaking noise. They are within the trans and not really accessible with the trans in the car. You cant just *****-nilly spray oil in through an inspection cover either seeing how there is a large clutch disc in there that doesn’t do so hot when covered in oil. This will cost about the same to fix as it would be to do the clutch, since the transmission has to come out of the car (books 17 hrs). At this point you might as well replace the clutch again depending on how many miles are on that clutch, and the RMS if it hasn’t already been done. Parts are cheap compared to labor.

This has nothing to do with what type of clutch is on the car. It has to do with someone not being thorough enough when putting in your cutch components. They should inspect and lubricat/clean many of those parts. This is not a mechanical issue more so an annoyance. Even if they replace the bushings make sure they use a high quality grease in very sparing amounts on the inside of the bushing to release fork friction points to avoid attracting clutch dust.

I feel the pain, I have a throughout bearing clicking away within my 16vlv benz. Cheap part and pita labor. Curious what mileage you had the clutch done and when this noise started.

Thank you for the most complete answer, I had the transmission mount replaced 100 miles ago. Would that be the item number 1? if so I suspect the noise is through the bushing on the mount. You may have saved my a$$.

We can certainly try greasing that baby...

Thanks again.

This squeaking noise shouldn’t be dependant on having the engine running or the car moving. Porsche mounts don’t squeak very often, but if it only happens when moving it could be. To narrow down the possibilities, when the car is making the noise next time try working the clutch with the engine off and car parked. It will help you hear the noise if you do this in your garage with your windows down and garage door shut. Parked next to a large concrete wall in a parking garage will work too. If you were local I would say come over to my shop and let me help ou help you out with diag and labor if need be. I know how much it sucks having to deal with annoyances like this.

Item 1 is the clutch fork, not the transmission mount.
