A rather odd noise......

I've noticed a rather odd noise which sounds like a cross between a rough boost leak resonating down a hollow metal tube and a noisy well bearing, but don't think it's either.

It only happens in 6th and under load starting at about 1500 rpm - throttle position is critical to make it audible. A touch too much or too little throttle and it goes away.

I think it may be something loose on the clutch but can't be sure.

Any suggestions ?

good question - would explain the hollow tube ringing part of the noise, but why only in 6th ?

Funny how it just suddenly started making this noise, no gradually getting worse - just started doing it after not driving the TT for a couple of weeks.

I'll try and isolate it a bit more.

This is going to be a tricky one to diagnose :-)

1500 rpm's in 6th gear, are you sure you're not lugging the engine?
