Pre-Purchase Inspection in Los Angeles

Hi all,

I am about to pull the trigger on a 996 GT3 and I am wondering if you would recommend a good Pre-purchase inspection mechanics around LA?

Cannot wait to be part of the family

Thanx a lot in advance!

Several sponsors of the board are in the LA area such as GMG who are in Santa Ana. Good luck with your purchase. If you use the search feature it will pull up several places as well.

+1 for GMG, the only problem is it's in Santa Ana, so it might be too far for you to take for a PPI depending on the seller. But the drive down there would certainly be a good time to get acquainted with the vehicle if she passes PPI. Also, 911Design in Montclair is a good place to go.

Thanx Paul / All,

Let me make a bit more difficult unfortunately ;(

Would you know a shop that would also be open on Saturday - I will try and call the aforementioned shops, but in case they are not open tomorrow, it would be nice to have other options.

Thanx!

My guy may come in on Saturday, but he is not normally open.

I do know that some dealers are open on Saturdays, but if it were me I'd wait until Monday.

If you could wait until Monday, your options open up a lot more. On a Saturday, it is mostly dealers that are open.

Another option for you is Vision Motorsports in Laguna Hills. They can do PPI. I just had my car there earlier this week and was very impressed with their attention to details.

Mike at Kundensport in Camarillo is amazing. 805-445-9146. Works on Saturdays at times. Great place.

My impression is that there is more variability with dealers and much higher odds you will not have any contact with the mechanic- just a service advisor looking to make any easy buck. They have little to lose if if they blow it too.

I recommend doing the "CPO Inspection Checklist" and add a DME dump looking for codes and over-revs. Believe it or not, a Porsche dealer CPO does NOT include over-rev data ...
