997tt wheels installed

Here's the pics with the 997tt wheels installed. I think the car looks fantastic now, and has been seriously updated with just this wheel change.

I drove around yesterday for about 3 hours total for various things, and in that time 9 people told me some form of "nice car," one person tried to race me in a camero (lol), one thumbs up, one wave, and one person who saw me getting in just said "holy ****." Its not Ferrari level attention, but this car definately turns heads now .

Again, I'm running 235/35/19 tires on front and 315/25/19 tires on back.

For the 996tt, you need to stick to 25.5'' or lower to avoid rubbing and you need front and rear diameters within 3/12'' to avoid overheating the center diff. I know many sixspeeders just use stock 997tt wheel sizes (235/35/19 and 305/30/19 if I recall correctly), but I'm told thats a risk.
Big rear tires, may rub unless you are replacing them with the same size tire. Flash is a great deal for $1300.

I've got the cable for the flash from Switzer and will flash it soon, but I've got a problem to take care of first....

The car had bad belt noise (I think maintenance item at 30k miles anyway), so I took it to Porsche. They say it needs belt/pully/tensioner, which will take them 8 hours labor at $120, and the total will be about $2,200. I'm sure my warranty will deny a claim on all this as maintenance BS. This repair is beyond my DIY skills I think, but the part numbers Porsche quoted me can be found online at Porsche OEM parts or KO performance for about 60% of the cost:

1. Tension Roller - 99611501672 - Porsche wants $280.44 ; its $183 at Porsche OEM parts online. http://www.porscheoemparts.com/partl...&siteid=215405

2. Belt - 99919237950 - Porsche = $134 / Online = $59.27 http://www.porscheoemparts.com/partl...&siteid=215405

3. Deflection Roller (apparantly I need two of these) - Porsche $191.57 each / Online $144 each http://www.koperformance.com/catalog...on-Roller.html

I think that is the bulk of the parts, totaling $798 from Porsche or $530 online, or $268 cheaper. I don't know if Porsche will let me order the parts myself and bring them in as I have a loaner car currently (although they have to order the parts too), but I'll consider driving an hour to get my Infiniti to drive for a few days if it will save $268. The real pain is the 8 or 9 horus of labor at $120 an hour.

Any helpful comments would be appreciated, but I just wanted to document all major issues with the car in this thread as well. Welcome to exotic car ownership...

Sorry to hear, was there a whirring noise noise that came up at lower RPM / crusing? Did it go away with the clutch pedal depressed?

What were the symtoms of your problem?

Have you considered any indy shops in your area?

I'm planning on visiting a friend in Cleveland sometime this summer. I'd love to meet some Ohio owners.
