Advice - Mod Opportunity?

I'm posting here because I know 90% of everyone here is mod crazzzzy, and am hoping someone can offer me some advice.

Unfortunately, one of the valve lifters in my engine is fubared. Not sure why, not sure which one, just know that is will need to be fixed. I also know that in order to fix it, the local shop is going to have to take a fair amount of the engine apart, and it will cost a fair amount in labor.

Now, my question is, while everything is apart, is there something else I should have done? I've got a stock '02 996 X50 TT, and to be honest I wasn't planning on doing a lot to the car - I have no desire to get up to 900hp by modding my car. (actually, the desire is there, but cost/reliability wins over)

In summary, if the engine has to come out and apart, is there something else I should get done?

Check and replace any dry rotted rubber components. Upgraded CM stg 3 or SACHS clutch depending on miles. P&P stock exhaust manifolds and I would FOR SURE upgrade the intake piping.
