I just went online to get a quote for my cars and they go out with your VIN and determine the car (you don't even type the VIN, they get it from the DMV).

They say my 04 996 X50 cab is an 04 Porsche GT2 convertible.

Weird, huh.

 

That might be because the early GT2 was an X50 with PCCB's and different body panels. The last GT2 had a HP increase to 482 I believe.

So if it gets totaled do you get a carrera4?

 

Wawanesa says the same on my car. It is listed as a GT2. Kinda nice if it gets stolen... right? They'll buy me a GT2

 

I went with Geico on my 02 996tt and they think mine is a GT2 also. I asked them about it and they said they classify the GT2/Turbo as the same I guess. I got insured with them on the 996tt and my G35 coupe for $1054 annually, and the other 3 insurance companies I tried with were all $1800-$1900. I saved a hell of a lot more than 15%, thier rates were great, and I'm only 25 too, so was expecting closer to $2k for the two cars.

 

Geico gives me high rates every time I try them! I got no tickets or accidents. I use Travelers insurance they gave me the best rate.

 

My insurance has my turd listed as a GT2 also...Hmmm....
