As many of you know, my car is for sale.

I've got an offer on the table for $68.5K, which is about $2.5K lower than I was really willing to go.

This buyer has already paid for a PPI and is ready to wire money same-day if I say yes. Other buyers have expressed interest at my target price, but they're dragging their feet.

In the interest of just moving the damn car, do you think I should go for it?

It turns my stomach to think that '97 993TTs are selling for as much or more as my '01 996TT. F*CK pag for doing this to us.

You can always ask for 69 even and use good luck as an excuse (j/k)

Why sell it if you don't need the money, what other car can you get for that price that will handle like your Porsche, just keep it and ride out this crazy wave of depreciation, it has to level off at some point.

meet the buyer halfway between what you wanted and his offer
Not too long ago my buddy bought a perfect very low mileage basically stock '01 for 73K
If it were me I would remove some mods first and then sell it
Good luck to you

The sell it attitude is why the prices are in the toilet. As Rave said, you can't get close to that car with anything else for the money. The more we dump them low, the more that sets the market. Just like baseball owner's get pissed with Steinbrenner when he throws money at players, I'm pissed at all of you just dumping.

Very true jim, It would be great to have all the owners set the market higher. But you might regret it in the long run, my brother put off selling his e36 m3 for a year or so. He sold it for 16k and about 3 months to sell it. He was kicking himself in the *** for not selling it 2 years ago.

Just sell it already....thats why it is up for sale right?

If you need the funds to move to your next vehicle or whatever you shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth which is what the buyer is who already paid for PPI even though it is a tad lower than you wanted (wow that's a run-on sentence!!! )

The market, prices, depreciation...it all makes sense but Trojanman, what do YOU want to do. Is there another car that you are just obsessed with and the obsession won't go away until you have it. Do you want to sell for the cash or are you bored?

I've toyed with the idea myself but everytime I come to the realization that there isn't another car (for the same money) that I would want. So I hold.

Good luck.

My guess:

1/ Tiptronic - deduct 5K
2/ Fact that car has been modded (right or wrong most buyers don't think the TT "needs" more power and regard any modded car as "molested" - eliminates 75% of regular buyers and leaves the grinding bargain hunters - deduct 5K
3/ Car is in Orange County, CA - add 5K
4/ Mileage deduction from 5K miles = extra 20K @0.50 cents/mile - deduct 10K
5/ Color - no deduction

Let's see have my guesses calculate:

83K for unmodded 5K mile 6 speed car outside of Orange County, CA, less 20K deductions, add 5 K = 68K

Are you kidding me??? You guys are getting $70K for a 2001 TT down in the U.S ?

2001 996TT are selling for $95+USD ($125,000 CDN).

The 2002 996TT are listed at $139,000 CDN.

1996 & 1997 993TT are selling for $95,000 - $110,000 CDN!!

Trojan,

Market your car up here. Getting cars into Canada is not difficult and it seems like your market is not priced as high as ours in comparison.
