Thoughts on RUF exhaust

Have an option for a used RUF exhaust. From past comments sounds like it is a no Drone solution with improved WOT sound.

I did come across an older post where a number of exhausts had been tested for HP/TQ/ sound DB and the RUF in this test actually had reduced HP/TQ in the mid-upper range. Would hate to take a step back. This was several years old and none of the current x-designs were tested.

Anybody have any comments on the performance loss? Thanks.

r34dy2walk is infamous around these parts
honestly, i wouldn't really go for it. from what i've read, its just a stock exhaust with small modifications done to it.

honestly, the only exhaust system that i've seen work with no drone would be EP. everything else will have a little bit of drone to it. i've just grown to live with it in my original speedtech.

I'll let FDORN chime in on this one. I sold him my RUF exhaust and he is in love. Much faster spool, no drone, more aggressive sounding than stock but not loud by any means.

most if not all exhausts drone.. some alot and some very little... Sure , if you make an exhaust that is as heavy as stock, with baffles, lots of packing material, smaller ID(2.5"), stock tips that reduce to 2.2'.... YES you probably will not get drone.. but if thats the case you might as well stay stock...
Some guys want to be married and act single... It's kinda like that with exhausts.. they want one with absolutely no drone, very high flow for max result, light weight, awesome sound, for under $2K... in my honest opinion... make up your mind on what is the most important factor in a after market system... then either be married or stay single.. not both because that usually doesn't turn out well... kinda like with exhausts....
sorry for the dumb analogy but its Sunday morning lol

Have RUF exhaust with my TT. Sounds good at WOT, no drone compare with other aftermarket exhausts (I've ride with quite alot of aftermarket exhaust and most drone which included EP). RUF exhaust casing is same as OEM but with quart tips. Don't think muffler will add up any power but 100 cel cats sure do!

The Ruf is more than just a simple mod of the stock exhaust, it uses larger piping and 100cell cats. There are no CELs and there is no drone.

I had at al least 5 exhausts.. some very popular here on 6speed... you would be surprised what I found after hearing them, touching them, and even opening them up.... etc.... some were mig welded in certain spots and the and were $4k+ ...
Best answer is to trust someone in the industry... a friend, a tuner, etc... and hope you get what you want... the popular ones I had in my hands all droned...
but then that is a subjective point of view...

I went for a 911Tuning exhuast. Itīs my 6th exhaust on the 996Turbo and finally found what everyone is looking for. It sounds perfect, like a sportscar should, no drone, perfect fit and very nice welding. The other six there was always some kind of problems, like fitment, drone, quality, welding, sound or to restrictive.
