I got a new ... used 996 turbo cab

I just bought this and am looking for some help. The car has Bilstein coil overs, H&R big sway bars and Sharkwerks stage 2 with EVOMSIT tune ... Fabspeed exhaust, cats and headers. The intake looks stock, but not positive on air filter.

It also came with the 19" HRE's and PS2's. Love the car and set up.

The check engine light just came on and was told by a dealership service tech it was that the cats were too restrictive....? I wouldn't know. Anyone have a comment or experience with this?

The car makes 1.0 bar, but would love to change turbos and make some real hp in the neighborhood of 600+ and be able to achieve 1.2 to 1.3 bar.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to get this there with the equipment I have and without breaking the bank completely?

I don't know. I didn't ask either. He said the cats are too small, and that he sees it all the time. I just thought I'd here it from you guys here before I took their word for it.

They quoted me $3000 for a set of stock cats right afterward, so I'm guessing it may not be that...?

I think your dealer is full of ____ . Chances of cats being too restrictive on an aftermarket exhaust are slim to none, the whole purpose is to introduce high-flow cats. Try taking your car to one of many respectable Porsche tuner shops in So Cal, or just a good independant tech.

I love the wheels on your car...

I really think you need to stop by an autozone and get that code read to see report back with us. The dealer is a liar. Stock cats are welded into the stock exhaust and cannot be removed, taken out, or added separately to an aftermarket system.

If you have a fabspeed exhaust system on the car, you do not have cats that are too restrictive. They may be too "free flowing" or may not even exist, but no way they are too restrictive.

For additional power, if you have k16s and want to keep them, I would recommend the billet k16 upgrade.

Meet us halfway...give us at least the code.

Buy a durametric, next time the code comes up read it and ost it. You cannot expect us to clairvoyantly discern the problem if you didnt ask the dealer for the code.

Could be A LOT of things, a 'restrictive cat' is not on my top 100 list of causes.

DO NOT take it to the dealer.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks dealers are full of bull and are no different than con artist.
