I'd take the 911 any day too. Unless I had a family to carry.

@techart 996 #3

See my reply in the thread with the 996TT, E55 and RS6.

Also, for 996TT pricing in Europe check http://www.mobile.de/cgi-bin/index_cgi.pl?sprache=2

You can expect to get similar to German prices or less for your 996T. Not a lot of american 911's around here. And I guess you'd have to pay taxes etc. to bring it in unless you're moving and owned the car for 1 yr etc.

That's one magazine. I just saw an article where the new A6 came in next to last place in a comparison of mid range luxo cruisers. And of coarse they had the requisite, "it still doesn't drive like a BMW" No thanks!! The driving dynamics aren't close to the 5 series. Audi is happy to simply split the handling/sporting difference between the "i'm 100 yrs old" mercedes type handling and the true entusiast BMW. Just my $.02

Plus most Audi's are a time share with the service department.

Not a fair statement. I owned a 2001 A6, and it only had 1 unscheduled service visit in 2 years of ownership.

A family friend has a 2002 TT and she's only taken it in a couple times for unscheduled maintenance.

My cousin has a 2002 A4 and he has had about 3 service visits for warranty work.

All of these are superior to my family's experience with mercedes & my experience with Porsche, all of which have gone in multiple time for MAJOR warranty work.

The Porsche 911 is not the best four door, four passenger, car in the world.

I think I can agree to that.

My Porsche IS the best car in the world for me, and ME is all that counts. Why would anyone live by what someone else says anyway?

I know you would. You like to enter your car through the fourth door in the back, as always.

No argument there.

funny how Audi along with Bmw depreciate like crazy(in the US). If the pole was taken in the US- with only imports(German)... the first two choices would not even be on the list.Thats like taking a poll of Japanese cars in europe versus a poll of japanese cars in the US. The poll would be totally different.
Just my thoughts.
