1st DE = DNF (Burst the big coolant hose?)
1st DE = DNF (Burst the big coolant hose?)
Signed up and went for my 1st two day DE at TWS last weekend. I had a blast, learned some new skills, and pushed the new car a bit on the 1st day. These cars sure are fast!
Day 2 starrted out great, started reeling in the rest of the green group, only to be suprised by the low coolant light alarm and blinking temp gauge. Limped it back to padock with cloud of sticky sweet steam following me. After a cool down I found the passenger side large coolant hose split lengthwise about 3" long.
Car has 35K miles and the hose did not look rotted out, it looked almost like it burst. I'm going to go ahead and change them all now, as I spent the rest of my 2nd track day fixing it so I could drive home.
Anybody else lost one of these large hoses or had similar failure?

I was there as well and DNF after the second session on Saturday. I can't blame my issue on a mechanical... and as much as I would like to blame it on turn 10... it was my driving. Too fast and on a different line heading into 11-10 just doesn't work.
Drifted wide, hit the curbing, which happens to be broken there. Instead of a nice rounded edge I picked off the broken 5-6" high concrete curb. Quite a bang... and one majorly bent wishbone! Up until the bang I was quite proud that I was keeping the car pointed in the right direction and not spinning. Now I wish I had spun instead!
Which car were you in?
I am headed back in October! You?
Cheers,
Ashley

Happened to me, but it was in back of the car. Someone else in the thread discussed what you are talking about - I think.

Hope to go in Oct. as well.
Planning on the 10/24-24 DE too. It is addicting!
This is probably a good thread to bring up something I have been thinking of for a while.
It seems to me the most common failure you hear of on these cars on the track is some kind of coolant mishap-- weather it be the "glued in fitting" or some hose giving up the ghost. As preventative maintenance, how many coolant hoses/fittings/etc are there that could be replaced to ensure trouble free track time? What would be even more scary is if one of these gave up the ghost on the street/highway and caused the car in question or other cars to lose control. As someone who is interested in trouble free track time, I'm very interested in addressing this BEFORE they become issues on the track.

From talking with Kevin at UMM, I am pretty sure these parts are a must to replace and a common failure (although in my case these were not the culprits - I replaced them anyway on his rec.)

The "Glued in fitting" failure you guys have seen, is it a glue joint failure or just rubber hose spliting?
Just the hose split, it was weakened by Pentosin leak dripping from the low pressure line above it.
