Insurance quote 966tt vs. Lotus exige
Which one usually costs more? I heard that the cost to insure a Lotus is high because of the outer clam shell being made out of carbon fiber and it would cost a lot to fix it

I had the elise and the insurance was less than my lexus SUV. The 996tt was a little more. Do not let this be the determining factor in which car you buy though. They are completely different cars.

Agreed...your asking a crowd that doesn't have all the info neccessary to tell you the answer.

I've had both cars...I can't remember there being a significant difference. Also, the clam isn't made out of CF...

+1 on calling insurance.

+1 on shell not being cf. Not sure how this rumor got started.

I worked for a Lotus dealer. Clamshells are fiberglass.
