How good is the ECU at adjusting for fuel changes?
Could it cope with say 10% Meth added to the tank or maybe even 20% Meth?
Used to put 10% Meth in the Impreza for drag runs without map changes.
ECU is currently flashed for normal pump fuel.

When you say "adjust", what do you mean? If you run meth or race fuel on a pump gas tune, all you are doing is eliminating the chance of timing retard.
Adjust/learn to the fuel type.
Meth leans out the AFR.
You see many 996TT flashes sold as them being able to learn/adjust to benefit from using race fuels without needing dual maps.

Hey bro, who you calling a retard?!?
he said add meth to the tank!?! as in fuel tank?? ttboost has meth injection.. can you add methanol right to your fuel tank? thats what you used to do to the sube?? dosent seem right

The ECU can adjust fuel trims 15-20% if I remember correctly. I don't see any reason for doing it though. My thought is if it is going to make more power it's going to do it because it is lean, because you know the saying "Lean is mean!". If you are relying on the ECU to adapt and add more fuel I don't see how you are going to gain any more power.
Might get the KS3 Knock Analyser connected up and see what % meth the car likes if there isn't any data on here.[/quote]
I can't imagine what adding Meth to the fuel tank is gonna get you, other than a little knock protection...??? Install a meth spray kit and tune for it. It did drop my A/F by about a point, but I also picked up massive power with it too...

When I have run different fuel e.g. 104 race fuel against 99 std, I away reset the adaption values by disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes. Otherwise you can waste half a tank of fuel while the car adapts. If you reset, then it adapts pretty much instantly. It is to do with the STFT and LTFT.
Anyway that was what I was told to do, and it seems to work fine doing it this way.

Running 20% meth in tank can give gains as good as race gas. The knock protection isn't as good though, but meth in tank is the choice for many in the UK here with Subarus.
My question may have been better put to ask: Can the ECU adjust to take advantage of higher octane fuels?

If some ECU mappers could share their views it would be highly appreciated.

ECU tunes by Softronic or designed for either 91 or 93 octane. The addition of race gas or those internationally, the ECU will adjust to the change in octane accordingly.
