Yea, but the OP was talking about 700 awhp on 91 octane, not 700 rwhp on 93. That is a pretty big difference. 700 rwhp on 93 can be done, but 700 awhp on 91 with stock internals? I wouldn't try it.

It says "91-93 octane". 91 octane with meth injection would work as well.

It's old news. My car (997tt) has well over 700whp and our modified tiptronic handles it just fine. Actually, on pbox graph, the shifting is at 0.1 second, which is the same with PDK

Dr. jitsu, don't be hatin.

There is great information here. From what I'm reading and based on personal experience of owners, I think it is possible to achieve 700 AWHP on 91 Octane gas. And maybe even higher using methanol. I'm ok with building the internals of the engine. I'm not familiar with 996 Turbo engines but replacing the pistons, rods, rings, bearings, and studs should not cost an arm and a leg. You are not replacing the crankshaft, or the mains, or sleeves, etc. I want the turbos to kick in as early as possible. I would rather have 680 AWHP that spools at 3000 - 3500 rpm rather than 980 AWHP up at 5000 rpm.

Markski, how much AWHP does your Ski 850GT kit make on 91 Octane gas?

Then, the real question is how much of an AWD will the 996 Turbo be at 700 AWHP level? Does the front differential become almost useless at these power levels? I want to have something like 30% - 70% or 40% - 60% front-rear traction at these levels. IS there a way to lock the front-rear distribution or electronically change it on the fly from the ****pit? Yes, I want to make AWD slides or 3500 - 4000 rpm AWD launches. Is the 996 Turbo correct platform for this?

If it's going to become a basically RWD high HP car, I already have a 1100 RWHP on pump gas and over 1300 RWHP on C16 Twin Turbo Viper.

Keep in mind that this is a far more complex motor to build than the V10 in your Viper. It requires about 5K dollars in specialized tools just to assemble it!Not to mention the amount of experience one needs to have to do it right.Just an FYI.

even with a built motor , 700 whp on 91 without meth will be hard.

also, you would be suprised how much it costs to build the 996 tt motor.

it's funny scott we have almost same set up except the turbos. i just built my motor with the only aftermarket internal part pauter rods.

How much does it cost to build a 996 Turbo engine with forged internals, say CP pistons, Crower rods, rings, bearings, and studs, all assembled and balanced?

And again the real question that I'm interested in is how much of an AWD will the 996 Turbo be at 700 AWHP level? Is it possible to have 30% - 70% or 40% - 60% front-rear traction at these HP levels? Or does the front differential become useless, making the car basically a RWD?

"Pure" meth with 91 octane is like running MS109 (105 octane). Meth adds the equivalent of 10-15 octane points depending on the amount being used.

I think we have different ICs and exhaust as well. But ya, very similar.

If you run a full tank of unleaded after every two tanks of leaded, the plugs can last 2 or 3 years.

CP pistons are about $5k
Pauter rods are about $2k, don't know about crowers.
Good studs (12mm) are about $1,200
Bearings should be another $1k

and the labor of these should be around $5k or so. you are looking something close to $15k including the labor.

Wow. The CP pistons in my V10 (8.5 to 1 ratio) cost $150 each in just parts and I have 10 of them, not 6.

Your car is AWD tiptronic, right? How much of an AWD does your car drive like at 700 AWHP? Are there major differences between the AWD drivetrain of 996 Turbo vs 997 Turbo?
