Upgrade to a 235/40/18 front, and a 315/30/18. You will be pleasantly surprised as to how much more planted the car feels.

That's a pretty wide rear tire for an 11" rim. I wouldn't go above 305. Yeah, you can fit a 315 on there, but that's a lot of tire for that rim. I'd rather go with the 305 and keep the sidewalls in better alignment. I run 235/305 for reference.

+1 for 235/40/18 and 315/30/18 on the OEM TT wheels (8x18 and 11x18).
Looks good, feels good, stops good, corners great and accelerates better.

Sorry to get off the subject but what brand of tire are you all finding in a 315/30/18?

Doesnt look like much out there in this size.

^^

I had 315/30/18 in Michelin and Pirelli. I am sure there are many others.

Pirelli, Michelin, Nitto, Hankook, there are a bunch. The Hankook's I liked the best because they felt more compliant than the two first mentioned and had less road noise - most likely due to more recent development. And they were also good to use for track/street mixed.

I use the Michelin PS2 315's for street, and Nitto NT01 315's for track. I've been tracking 315's for 2 years on 11" rims with no problems.

Larry, If u ever purchase new wheels get 12" rears. The NT-01' will serve you slightly better on a 12.
