Trade my 03 996TT for Z8?
Trade my 03 996TT for Z8?
I saw a beautiful Z8 in my dealer's showroom. It has 2100 miles.
I am considering trading in the 996TT. They want 115 for the Z8 it is the owner's car.
Bad move or good move?

No way! the TT is much better.
Btw, unless you personally know the owner, it was not his car. I remember when i used to be in car sales, any nice condition low mileage car in the show room we were told to say it was the owners or driven by senior citizens on weekends or something.

On the off chance that it is the owners former car it doesn't suprise me that they are asking that much for it. Like Paul said that car is with out a doubt $10,000 over what it should be. Look around for other Z8's, they are out there and most have low miles.

I passed on a perfect 1 owner Z8 last year with 1,000 miles... $108k. That car is 10k overpriced imo.

You need both!! I have a Z8 and I can honestly say it brings a smile to my face everytime I drive it. It is a different animal. People always ask me which I like driving better. If the weather is nice, I want to turn heads whereever I go and talk to perfect strangers, then the Z8 is the car to drive. When I simply want to drive ***** out, the Turbo wins out. The Z8 is no slouch, 1/4 mile times are like mid 12's and I can count on one hand how many other ones I have seen on the road. In the 4 months my car has been in Miami, I have seen 2 other Z8's ever. In chicago for the 8 months I had it, I saw 2 Z8's on the road. As far as that example, it is certainly overpriced, although not by $10k. My friend who owns a BMW store just bought one wholesale, 2003 manual trans with 1800 miles for $102,500.00, and sold it for $108k. Wholesale for 2002's is around $95k and 2001's is like $87k.

z8 is a good looking car no doubt ... it is not as good looking as a turbo, especially a turbo with any kind of kit on it ... and doesn't have the performance the turbo has either ... yes it has exclusivity or "specialness" factor, so what, so does a Maserati Spyder or countless other poor selling POSs out there ... at least that's my worthless opinion
Well if you live in FL or CA or other warm zones, the Z8 might be a better choice. Whenever Lou is in town, my pimped out SL turns invisible, as everyone crowds around the Z8. It does get a lot more attention than a Porsche.
However, performancewise - there is no substitute for the 911 turbo.
