Replacing windshield interior trim strips...

It looks like you have to take off part of the dashboard, but does the entire dash have to come off? Anyone else replace these?

I am replacing my wood trim with painted pieces.

Thanks!

Windshield interior trim strips. I am not sure what pieces you are referring to. Do you have a pic or a better description?

Thanks for the link...I have the shop manual downloaded as well.

I am putting the two pieces at the top of the picture below in my car (to replace the leather ones with wood (wood is cracked and gone).

That's a lot of Aluma! Unfortunately I can't find it in the repair manual, but I've replaced a lot of interior pieces before and most of them just snap into place. Don't those? I use to have a set (defrost trim right?), and I could swear they just had tabs.

Yes, it's that easy. You do have to remove the side HVAC ducts in order to remove the two defroster covers (maybe even the pillar covers - I just don't remember).

The two defroster covers just snap out and back in place.

I was going to remove my units as the CF had come loose. The trim guy got loose in the middle by just prying up but said there was a screw under the A-pillar trim on the end that was keeping them from coming out. We stopped at that point.

Let us know what you find.

It's not a screw but a little spring retainer clip that the a-pillar cover slides into. You have to remove the coat hook first than the a-pillar, than the LED cover and you delicatelly have to start prying them up. The clips are really fragile and crack off. I actually like mounting these on double sided 3m tape more.
