Brake Caliper Rebuild Kit

Does anyone know where I can buy a caliper rebuild kit for a 996 Turbo?

Sorry, I forgot to specify that I need to rebuild the caliper although I guess it was obvious from the title. My caliper is sticking and if I can't find a rebuild kit I'll have to buy a new caliper which would be less than ideal.

I just bought a set from Zeckhausen Racing. I think that GMG may sell them as well.

Much les expensive than a new caliper.

Jon,

I just moved back to the US. I have one more trip out to Lausanne to finish packing my things and then that's all she wrote. I spent the last two years in Lausanne though. Good times.

The trick was to find the sizes. Mine are 996 GT3 calipers, and they are 38,32,28 mm. Stock rear calipers, 30,28 mm. $50 per piston/axle. So that was 5 piston sets, or $250.

Jon, is this the first time you have had to rebuild your calipers? I know you have a lot more miles on your car than mine. Just trying to figure out the time interval for doing the maintenance.

FWIW - I recently had my calipers powder coated (stock 996tt). Did the caliper rebuild myself. The replacement piston 0-rings cost me about $13.50 EACH and the piston dust boots about $8.50 EACH, for a total of about $22 per piston (not per axle - x16 to cover the car). Total about $350 in parts. So, either someone's math is off, or I got hosed on my parts purchase , which is entirely possible. I got the piston o-rings from a Brembo distributor (a "deal" @ 10% off ), and the dust seals from Sunset (squealer cost + 10%?).
Also fwiw, the powder coating (stock color red, plus clear coat on top; local Bay Area wheel shop) was $250. IIKTWIKN, i would have waited until I upgrade to 997 calipers and rotors... oh well, what's done is done, and it looks great.

I've rebuilt the rears before. This is the first time for the fronts, which have been on about a year and one-half. Here's how I decide it's time to rebuild: When I change out the pads, I run my finger over the dust seals. When they get overheated, the feel dry and brittle, and you can usually feel a crack. If you press on them, you can hear them sound a bit like dry leaves. Then it's time. I change the pressure seals at the same time. They might last forever if you didn't do any track time - it's not an age thing.

Gnewhouse: I told you what I paid, and it was last week so I remember. Of course you got GENUINE PORSCHE dust seals, which are no doubt the same but cost more. Zeckhausen has all the parts.
