Clear side markers

I received my Clear (smoke) side markers and I am undesided as to weather I should use the clear or yellow bulbs. Is it a DOT requirment that they be yellow? I think the clear (white) bulbs look better. What do you guys think?

I have the Bluevisions in (they light up clear), and have never had a problem with cops...
Had them in my past 3 cars also, again no problems...
